ForMe - Training path for transcultural mediators in the health care field

The project - financed by the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals - aimed at defining the core curriculum of transcultural mediators working in the health care field. Mediators actively contribute to increase access to public health services of third country nationals and at improving services in general, thus guaranteeing health protection and service appropriateness.

The project provides three activity lines: researching the existing training offer and of professional needs; planning and testing of an integrated training model (face-to-face training, e-learning, training on the job); creation and  management of an institutional network on the relevant issues. During 12 months, 21 mediators from non-EU countries have been trained and a document for the definition of national guidelines for the development of a training path for transcultural mediators within the healthcare setting has been developed.
