Epiluminescence Microscopy

Epiluminescence dermoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic method, it easily implemented and has no contraindications, allows the evaluation of risky pigmentary lesions identified during a previous clinical examination.
This method allows the observation of morphological characteristics not visible at the naked eye, it increases diagnosis accuracy and facilitates the early diagnosis of atypical lesions, skin carcinomas and melanomas.
Computerised digital videodermoscopy also allows image saving and comparison in order to assess possible changes during the following examinations.
The outpatient department is supplied with a digital videodermoscope connected with a computer and provided with a specific software that allows dermoscopy images saving and storing.

The service offers the following services:

Epiluminescence observation (computerised digital videodermoscopy of single lesions identified during a previous dermatological or videodermoscopy examination)
Dermatological examination for naevi check-up (clinical and manual dermoscope naevi check up. This examination is necessary to identify the lesions to be analysed through digital videodermoscopy. A yearly check up is recommended to everybody)
