The NIHMP and Vittorio Nocenzi at the Assisi Festival: images and music for Ethiopia
The Assisi Festival, organised by the cultural association “United Artists for Peace” and the Municipality of Assisi will be held from 14 to 21 September 2010. The event includes the XV International Festival for Peace and the X green weekend. Vittorio Nocenzi, leader of the music group Banco del Mutuo Soccorso will be awarded the prize “Artist for Peace 2010”, for his social commitment. His last work Estremo Occidente aims at supporting the fight of African people for adequate health care facilities able to meet the needs of a huge population.
The artist and Prof. Aldo Morrone, Director General of the National Institute for Health, Migration and Poverty (NIHMP), will describe the ongoing activities in the Tigray Region, where the Institute established and represents the scientific and training referring institution of the Italian Dermatological Centre (IDC) at the Ayder University Hospital in Mekele, supplied with 30 beds and providing free medical assistance (about 60 examinations per day). Moreover, the opening of the new Paediatric and Maternity Ward at the Civil Hospital of Adigrat is also contributing in enhancing the health conditions of children, which represent the most vulnerable group in Sub-Saharan Africa.
