Press Conference for the Presentation of the Book "Paese che vai…. Consigli utili per un viaggio consapevole"
The presentation of the book “Paese che vai…. Consigli utili per un viaggio consapevole” (i.e. Tips for Conscious Travelling) was held on January 21st at the Campidoglio Palace in Rome. The book provides useful practical advice for worldwide travellers.
The press conference was held at the Sala del Carroccio - Campidoglio, on January 21st at 11.00 am. The book was written by the National Institute for Health, Migration and Poverty (NIHMP) and the Cultural Association Robur Capitolina, with the support of the President of the Assemblea Capitolina. It represents a useful information source for travellers, providing medical, cultural and nutritional advice on the five Continents, with the objective of supporting consciousness and respect for people and places when travelling.
Hon. Federico Rocca, Rome Councillor, Prof. Aldo Morrone, NIHMP Director General, Dr Paola Scardella, NIHMP, Dr Kristina Sarkyte, ADUTEI Associazione dei Delegati Ufficiali del Turismo Estero in Italia, and Dr Andrea Costanzo, President of FIAVET Lazio (Federazione Italiana Associazioni Imprese Viaggi e Turismo).
“The Rome Local Government supported this publication because it fills the gap existing in travel publishing. It puts together cultural and health recommendations and practical advice, allowing to really enjoy travelling”, said Hon. Federico Rocca, Rome Councillor. He opened the conference by outlining the completeness of the book and the useful information provided on the characteristics of endemic diseases in some areas of the world and on the prevention measures to be adopted.
“This is not a book on tourism but on travelling, seen from a cultural and scientific point of view”, said Dr Paola Scardella (NIHMP), “It derives from the long experience of the Institute. The language used is very simple, it contains useful advice to be read before and during the journey in order to make travelling a discovery of the world”.
Dr Andrea Costanzo, President of FIAVET Lazio, highlighted the capacity of this book to inform travellers without worrying them. It represents a useful, intelligent and easy resource also for tour operators.
“This book contains simple advice because simple is thepleasure of travelling” said Prof. Morrone, NIHMP Director General, “We want to diffuse a new philosophy of travelling, different from the commercial tourism that does not leave anything in travellers’ heart. Only who really travels knows odours, flavours, feeling and appreciates diversity, also in its most poor and disadvantaged expressions. We think that travel education represents a central point for personal growth, this is why we are thinking about distributing the publication in schools. This book cannot replace the doctor or the tourism medicine centre, its only objective is to make people understand the difference existing between looking and seeing: it is only by seeing and really understating the world that we can improve ourselves”.
