Presentation of the prevention campaign “PROGETTO DONNA”
20/12/10 - “A Project for Women - Mi state a cuore” is the slogan of the initiative of the President of the Lazio Region, Renata Polverini, who decided to assign her entertainment allowances to the promotion of a prevention campaign addressed to all women for the control of breast and cervical cancer. The initiative was presented during a press conference held in the Sala Tevere of the seat of the regional government by President Polverini and the Director General of the National Institute for Health, Migration and Poverty - San Gallicano Hospital, Aldo Morrone. From December 21st to January 6th, four campers of the Region with the NIHMP volunteers on board will be in some shopping malls of Rome and in the other provinces of the region to provide information, advice, free screening and medical examinations. One the campers is equipped with a mammograph and another with two rooms for gynaecological examinations, pap-tests and pelvic echographies. Also psychological counselling, dermatological, dentist and ophthalmological examination are available. “I decided to assign my entertainment allowances for this project - said President Polverini -. Women tend to take care of other people and often overlook their health. Our objective is to meet their needs by offering this occasion in some of the main shopping malls”. President Polverini herself will be at the camper of “Porta di Roma” on December 21st at 6.30 pm to undergo a medical examination. The project also provides the production of a scientific publication “Prevenzione Donna” (i.e. “Women’s Prevention”), containing useful information for families on women’s health. The campers will be operative from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm and on December 31st from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. The involved shopping malls are: Galleria Commerciale Porta di Roma from 21 to 22 December; Centro Commerciale Parco Leonardo in Fiumicino on December 23rd and from 27 to 31 December; Centro Commerciale Roma Est from 2 to 6 January; Supermercati PAM in Frosinone on December 21st and 22nd; Centro Commerciale Morbella in Latina on December 27th and 28th; Centro Commerciale I Cubi in Rieti from 29 to 31 December; Viterbo from 2 to 6 January in Piazza del Plebiscito, 1.
