"Estremo Occidente" in Ethiopia: piano concerto by Vittorio Nocenzi for the NIHMP

"Estremo Occidente" in Etiopia: il concerto di Vittorio Nocenzi per l'INMP

On November 8th, 2010, in the framework of the Fourth International Congress on “Dermatological Care for All: Awareness and ResponsAbility”, the piano recital by Vittorio Nocenzi, leader of the Italian band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso will be held at the Italian Institute of Culture in Addis Ababa. “Estremo Occidente” is the recital from the disc of the same title by Vittorio Nocenzi and inspired by nine “I Ching” hexagrams; it represents the meeting point between science and art.
The aim of the event is to use music to tell the stories of who is fighting in Africa for health care facilities able to meet the huge demand for assistance. Entrance is free.

It will be the occasion for presenting the ongoing activities in the Tigray Region, where the Institute established the Italian Dermatological Center (IDC), in the Ayder University Hospital in Mekele, provided with 30 beds and offering about 60 free medical examinations per day. Another important event for the region was the opening of a Paediatric and Maternity Ward in the Civil Hospital of Adrigat, provided with a labour room and a delivery room and aimed at fighting the terrible health conditions lived by minors, the weakest population group of Sub-Saharan Africa.

To work for the last and for the recognising of the human right to health, is the commitment of Vittorio Nocenzi, of Prof. Aldo Morrone and the objective of this extraordinary concerto.

"The world is like a piano keyboard: you can play only the black keys and have a melody, likewise, you can play only the white keys. But only by playing all the keyboard with white and black keys you can produce real music." (Desmond Tutu)
