Cardinal Bagnasco and his meeting with the NIHMP medical team in Lampedusa

Bagnasco: a Lampedusa incontro anche con gli operatori dell’INMP

PALERMO, 18 MAY 2011 – The 20 medical operators of the Sicily’s seat of the NIHMP, National Institute for Health, Migration and Poverty, of the Ospedale Civico di Palermo had the occasion to meet Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, president of the CEI (Italian episcopal conference) in Lampedusa. In the San Gerlando Church, NIHMP doctors, nurses and volunteers, together with Carmelo Pullara, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ospedale Civico di Palermo, and Concetta Mirisola, Chief Executive Officer of the NIHMP participated in the mass celebrated by Cardinal Bagnasco and in the meeting of the CEI president with the volunteer organisations and the police forces involved in the immigration emergency in Lampedusa. Pullara stated, “The commitment of the NIHMP and the Ospedale Civico in Lampedusa demonstrated that, even in emergency situations, we are able to suit health and reception services to a solidarity project as that managed by the NIHMP, promoted by the Regional Councillor for Health, Massimo Russo, and financed by the Ministry of Health”.
