Prison Without Barriers: from removal of obstacles for the disabled to social and working inclusion of detained women as disabled carers - Training course
The NIHMP was entrusted by the directorate of the women's prison Rebibbia with the task of implementing a training course for caring and assisting the disabled addressed to detained women. The training aims at providing basic knowledge on the main age and handicap-related problems, assistance, nutrition, rights, duties and communication. The training is implemented in the framework of the project “Prison Without Barriers: from removal of obstacles for the disabled to social and working inclusion of detained women as disabled carers”, financed by the Prison Administration Department (Dipartimento dell’Amministrazione Penitenziaria - Cassa delle Ammende).
The course has the double objective to train those detained women who have the task to assist non self-sufficient women in prison and to provide adequate tools for working inclusion after imprisonment in the assistance of the disabled.
The course provides three editions, each one addressed to 20 detained women, and composed of 60 hours, including 40 theory and 20 apprenticeship hours.
The teachers of the course are doctors, nurses, biologists, psychologists, anthropologists and cultural mediators from the NIHMP.
At the end of the training, participants will be awarded with an attendance certificate and a publication will be issued containing the didactic materials produced.
