Meetings on the parliamentary bill:
“ Provisions for the promotion and protection of civil and social rights and full equality of migrant foreign citizens”

First stop of the caravan tour organized by the “Tavolo per lo studio del fenomeno migratorio nel Lazio” (Working group for the study of migration in Latium Region), coordinated by the Regional counsellor Anna Pizzo who is involved in the draft of the Regional Parliamentary bill on migrants’ rights.
Meeting the people living in the territory is the best opportunity to spread information about this bill. In thirty articles it tackles the main problems concerning migrants: the right to health, to schooling, to preservation of their culture and to housing. In order to attain these objectives the creation of an Assembly of migrant citizens is proposed aimed at removing discrimination and promoting participation in the local policy-making. Moreover, a regional observatory against racism and discrimination is set up for monitoring and informing marginalized migrants.
The caravan tour has the objective to inform about the new Regional bill, show its potential and give citizen the “keys” to benefit from it. In a one-month tour the greatest possible number of places and people in Latium Region will be visited, its purpose is to create a law based on participation and democracy.
The initiative had been organized in collaboration with NIHMP and Obiettivo Psico-Sociale non-profit Association.
